What regular cleaning should I be doing for my Wet Room?

Regular cleaning keeps your wet room hygienic, safe, and looking its best. Focus on ventilating after use, cleaning surfaces weekly, and giving drains and fixtures extra attention.

A well-maintained wet room will stay safe, fresh, and easy to use for years. Here’s a simple cleaning routine to follow:

After Every Use:

  • Ventilate: Open a window or leave the door ajar after each shower to let moisture escape. This helps the room dry out, preventing mold and mildew.

Weekly Cleaning:

  • Clean Walls and Floors: Wipe down all tiled or waterproofed surfaces with a mild bathroom cleaner and a damp cloth or mop. Pay special attention to corners and around fixtures where grime can build up.

  • Clean Screens and Glass: If your wet room has glass screens, wipe them with a dry cloth after use to prevent water marks and streaks.

  • Wipe Fixtures: Gently clean taps, shower heads, and drain covers with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners to protect the finishes.

  • Wipe Silicone Seals: Run a dry cloth over any silicone-sealed joints to keep them dry and help prevent mold.

Check and Clean the Drain:
Regular drain maintenance is especially important in wet rooms. Remove the drain cover and clear any trapped hair or debris. Many wet room drains are fitted with a small removable “bucket” underneath. If yours is, use the key we provided to lift off the top cover, twist the guard to the left, and you’ll see the bucket inside. Empty this out and give it a good clean with warm soapy water before replacing it. Rinsing the drain area and bucket helps keep water flowing freely and prevents unpleasant odors.

Monthly Cleaning:

  • Descale Shower Head and Taps: Use a suitable limescale remover to clean shower heads and taps, especially in hard water areas, to maintain good water flow.

  • Deep Clean Grout and Seals: Use a gentle grout cleaner or a paste of baking soda and water to scrub any discoloured grout or seals, helping to keep everything looking fresh and hygienic.

Important Tips:

  • Avoid Bleach on Chrome: Never use bleach on chrome fittings, as it can damage the finish. Stick to mild, non-abrasive cleaners made for chrome and stainless steel.

Following this routine will help your wet room stay safe, sparkling, and easy to use every day. If you have any questions or need advice about the best cleaning products or how to care for your specific wet room, just ask our team—we’re here to help!
